Precision Sourcing is an excellent medium-sized IT recruitment business in Sydney. I have been an Advisor on the Board for almost five years. When I joined, there was a big problem. […]

Your Post-COVID Mantra. ‘Cash is Queen’.

One thing every owner and manager of every recruitment company has learned (or re-learned recently) is this;  ‘Cash is Queen’. I know of several recruitment companies that have gone into liquidation, have read of dozens more, and there are no doubt hundreds, maybe thousands across the world who suffered a similar fate. More will follow […]

Recruiters are being fired at the rate of 1 in 3!

This is not good news. We knew it was happening, but the numbers are horrific. Latest research from Staffing Industry Metrics tells us exactly how many recruiters were fired in March, April and May this year. And its ugly, ugly, ugly. But read on because I am seeing the silver linings, and so should you. […]

Something I wrote in 2009 just might save your career now.

I wrote this blog in 2009, just as we were emerging from what we then considered to be a bad recession. LOL (Yes, that’s right, I have been writing blogs for your reading pleasure, every week, for over 10 years. Thanks for asking.) It could not be more relevant for us now, even if I […]

My post-COVID recruiting dream

Who is going to stop us? Who is even looking? The most significant waste of all will be to come back to […]

The sun will shine on recruitment again!

Recessions end (Note, this article was written in June 2020. Think what you were doing and feeling then!) This one will too. It will be a long, hard road, but we will recover. As a species. Economically. And the recruitment industry will bounce back too. I have been through five recessions. While I have no […]

The Crisis is a 42-kilometre marathon. You are at the 5-kilometre mark

Imagine this COVID Crisis is a marathon. It is 42 kilometres to get to the end. I estimate we are at the 5-kilometre mark. Please, be optimistic. I am. You will finish the marathon. But be realistic too. It’s a long, hard, painful journey. People are talking glibly about ‘green shoots‘. Green shoots are a […]

4 placements in 6 weeks lock-down. The plan here!

Every single day I get emails, tweets and LinkedIn messages from recruiters, all asking much the same thing; What should I be doing right now? How can I be productive in lockdown? Occasionally, people write to me saying how much my advice has helped them. That’s gratifying because that is why I produce it. This […]
