I have never recommended a book before. Till now. Buy it

I started blogging and tweeting in about 2009.

For several years, my brother Chris Savage, then the COO of the largest digital and marketing business in the southern hemisphere, ridiculed my social activities, describing them as ‘trivial’ and me as a ‘twat who tweets’.

My response was of course unprintable, but certainly included the fact he was a dinosaur and one day he would beg me for help.

And indeed, one day, he did.

As social and digital evolved, and as he built businesses in that very space, he realised he was being left behind. He was a digital luddite, it was holding him back, and to his credit he recognised that, sucked up his pride, and asked for my help. Needless to say I swooped on the opportunity to crow and mock his turn-around, but he is my brother and I love him, so of course I did help. I taught him how to blog, I coached him on twitter etiquette, I taught him how to build an audience; I taught him new social tools to make him more efficient, I hectored him on subject choice in the early days, and at least twice in the following years we sat down again for ‘refresh and re-calibrate’, as he lifted his social game.

That’s all good. And he became pretty good himself, soon striking out on his own without my input. His blog ‘Wrestling Possums’ became a significant hit, garnering more than 10,000 views a week; he gained global notoriety for his fresh and compelling content, he became an ‘influencer’ on Twitter.

But then things went up a level.

He has written and published a book. And it is excellent.

The apprentice has outshone the master. By far

Taken from blog highlights, but sprinkled with fresh edits and new stories, Chris has revealed himself as a master storyteller. In ‘Savage Oxygen’ Chris shares leadership and life lessons to inspire more vibrant, successful careers, and happier, more fulfilling lives. This collection of deeply personal, authentic, often funny, always relevant and passionately told stories will help fuel young and old — and all those in between — with fresh energy and optimism, and to inspire growth. As a ‘mobile mentor’ it will become a lifelong companion. Read it all at once, or just dip in when you need a boost. You’ll keep coming back for more.

I recommend this book, not because he is my brother (actually, I recommend it despite that).

It’s a little jewel. He has decades of experience, has achieved incredible things, admits to countless cock-ups, and he knows how to extract the juice from each and every one of them, and serve that up to you in a compelling way.

It’s cheap and easy to buy, and an ideal gift for colleagues, family, staff, clients, and anyone you care about.

Buy ‘Savage Oxygen’. Now.

Even though it hurt a little to do it, I did.
